This Weekend: Fresh Face to the World

Or maybe I really want to go make masks at the Rubin Museum. This, I noticed, looks totally awesome. Who wants to pretend to be 9 years old?

Join Andrea Donley to prepare for the summer solstice. Mask making was an integral part of celebrations and rituals in most cultures. It was used to enter into new states of mind and to connect with supernatural forces and spirits. Create a new face for yourself and converse with your inner spirit.

Andrea Donley is a co-founder of the New York Shamanic Circle and a teacher and art instructor at the Children Museum of Brooklyn. Designed for children ages 5 to 9, who are to be accompanied by an adult. Please call 212 620 5000 x 290 to pre-register as there is limited space. Art materials will be provided. Free to adults with Museum admission; free to children.
